This was a year where I thought I had not taken enough photos.
The year started with trips to Milton Keynes, Bath and Manchester for my wife’s first marathon! In the midst of all this I created a Tree Album book for my first anniversary (in April) with my wife, you can see those images in a different gallery.
After that we jump to Bishopstrow in Wiltshire for a family gathering which proved very successful on a photo front!
From there we went to St Ives, our favourite place for holidays, this involved a trip to St Michael’s Mount where the stained glass windows were incredible.
Bringing it back to Birmingham and Milton Keynes for more running the end of the summer there is always
I felt guilty for not getting out to more places and getting more involved in the online photography world.
Needless to say I seem to default to very similar shots this year, I call them shots of convenience. So I have decided that in 2025 I would like to develop my CONFIDENCE more.
My photography this year has been largely influenced by James Popsys.
If you are familiar with his work then you will see that his approach to photography has, well, two themes in my mind.
1. He captures an element of humans and nature interacting - a concept I have loved since I first owned a camera.
2. He captures soft scenes that lead your eye to different places of the photos.
I am reminded when I start looking at different images he has taken and also different ones that I have taken that being able to get people thinking, being curious about a picture is the goal!
2024 has taught me two lessons really.
- Camera Gear DOES NOT MATTER!
- Go and shoot more!
I spent the beginning part of the year very confused as to what camera I should be using.
I love the Sony brand and their ecosystem of cameras, but I love the colours that Canon produce as well.
After a lot of deliberation I decided on the Canon. Then I realised something…
Some of my BEST pictures came from an iPhone!
It is really a true story when you hear people say that the best camera equipment is the camera that you have in your hand at the time.
Onwards to 2025!
