Reflecting on Growth and Inspiration
2024 was a year of reflection and discovery in my photography journey. Although it felt like I didn’t take as many photos as I’d hoped, it was filled with memorable moments and valuable lessons.
The year began with trips to Milton Keynes, Bath, and Manchester, supporting my wife’s first marathon. April marked our first anniversary, for which I created a Tree Album book—a separate gallery showcases those special images.
Family gatherings in Wiltshire, holidaying in St Ives (including a visit to the stunning stained glass at St Michael’s Mount), and capturing spiderwebs in the golden summer light rounded out the middle of the year. By autumn, work commitments kept me from chasing colourful landscapes, but I made up for it by preparing for the Kenilworth Castle fireworks, where I honed my night-time photography skills. Winter brought breathtaking light and skies that I couldn’t resist capturing.
This year, I’ve learnt that camera gear doesn’t matter as much as the creativity and effort behind the lens. Some of my favourite images were shot on an iPhone, reinforcing the idea that the best camera is the one you have with you.
I’ve also drawn inspiration from James Popsys, whose work emphasises the interplay of humans and nature and soft, curiosity-piquing compositions. In 2025, my goal is to build confidence, push creative boundaries, and shoot more intentionally.
Check out my 2024 gallery, and let’s continue the journey together into the new year!
For my first wedding anniversary with my wife I decided to put my skills of photography on paper.
I have never had large prints of anything and I decided that I would use SAAL digital to create the most amazing book I have ever made!
These are the images that I took of a tree that we call ‘Our Tree’. It is in a field near our house and it is the spot where I actually proposed to my wife…
The book came out really well and I was very happy when it made my wife’s day.
This is the busiest year of my life. Represented in my photography - there are too many images in the initial upload. I will come back and change the number of images on this page.
